Multiroutes
Okay this is a bit complicated to explain without toys and arrows.
We are now combining routes that start and end at the same stop or station.
So instead of showing multiple options:
We combine them:
So imagine if Bus205 and Bus38 and Bus17 take the same path, now we are going to combine them and call it Bus205/38/17. This means departures are more frequent.
Walk to a stop/station with the comfort of knowing that multiple options await you. Then take whichever one comes first.
So total travel time for this combined route is theoretically less. Thus the route is ranked higher by our brainy algorithm.
Multiroutes are good for you
They are high frequency corridors with more optionality. Sort of like that popular street where you keep bumping into all your friends and exes. Get it? Okay never mind, carry on.
