How to get from NJ to Manhattan when the PATH closes
Starting on August 6th, PATH 33rd Street service will be suspended on from 12:01 am Saturday to 5:00am Monday, every weekend until mid-December (except major holidays).
PATH will be doing federally mandated repairs to improve safety and allow more trains during rush hour.
Getting from NJ to Manhattan is about to get a little more complicated...
Here's what you've got to know:
Added: special weekend trains between Hoboken and WTC
Special train service will run according to rider needs. Hop on with your normal PATH ticket.
Added: Free shuttle bus
Free shuttle bus service runs between WTC and 33rd St.
It will run every 10 minutes between 7am - midnight, and every 20-30 minutes between midnight - 7am.
You will need a special voucher to board this bus. Vouchers are available at World Trade Center
I'm going to midtown. What are my alternatives?
1. Take PATH to World Trade Center, and take the Free Shuttle Bus
The Port Authority will run special train service between Hoboken and WTC, as well as free shuttle buses between WTC and 33rd St.
Taking the PATH to WTC + free bus = $2.75 ๐
2. Get the PATH to World Trade Center and transfer to the Subway
But, you'll have to pay an extra ticket ๐
Are there any exceptions?
Normal service will run on major holiday weekends, including Labor Day (Sept. 3-5), Veteran's Day (Nov 11-13) and Thanksgiving (Nov 24-27).
